Be gentle on my curves - BRO way ;)

Be Gentle On My Curves (BRO)

Be slow on my curves!! You think it’s a cheeky line from some romantic scene from a movie! Well not really.
Go to the extreme corners of India and you will have one organization to be thankful for “Border Road Organization” abbreviated as BRO. They work relentlessly to build up the roads after an arduous weather for army which indirectly also helps us because, the roads they build is the only way through which we can do our adventure trips. What in past has caught my attention are the pride inducing, relatable and witty sign boards which are put all across. This article takes you to a journey into that unexplored world!

Media has given all of us wings. Movies like zindagi milegi na dubara has changed the way people look at the world. You can see people are quitting their corporate jobs and following their heart and passion. One such passion is ‘Travelling’. Travelling oh yes! It’s just amazing how suddenly so much has evolved in this world of travelling - travel companies, travel websites, travel competitions. The list just goes on!

Let’s talk about this travel from a biker’s perspective- a biker in India. If you proclaim to the world that you are a biker then the first question you would be asked is - have you been to Leh Ladakh? If you have been to Leh Ladakh, you will know why people ask you this? This place offers everything an adventurer, a nature lover, a photographer (the list goes on) can ask for.

Let’s break this myth. As a biker, India doesn’t only offer you Leh Ladakh but there are many places equally beautiful and rather unfathomed. Spiti in Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunanchal Pradesh, Mana in Uttaranchal and many more. Obviously, the enthralling beauty in these places is what motivates all the adventurers to come out of their shells, put their lives at risk and go to these celestial places but lately what seems to be like a fad is a motivation to get photographs clicked next to the BRO sign boards which automatically explains your achievement and even better gives a proof of it. When you stand next to them and get a picture clicked an automatic sense of accomplishment flows in your blood.

Can you imagine a person rides all the way from Kolkatta to kibithu , Arunanchal Pradesh on Royal Enfield.  Not knowing the place, how to reach there, what would the place look like and how the roads would be. They just knew one thing a BRO board 'welcome to the eastern most road of India'. Once you have reached the place, you don’t really know if you are at the right place but The Board is found and gives a sparkle in your eyes. And then you spend hours literally murdering the board. Getting photographs clicked in front of it, over it , under it, with the bike, without bike, with sunglasses, without them, pointing to the board and looking away from it!!!
And only then you actually start your ride on the eastern most road!.

There are some which says welcome to the last village of India and you get that feeling of being at the extreme of your own country. And then people make it more dramatic by adding have a maggi at the last shop of India.

Some more adds the heights and an adjective to make it really worth standing next to them showing off your biceps like highest motorable road of India, world’s most treacherous road.

There is another category of emotional ones like If you want to stay married, divorce speed, If you love her, please divorce speed

But most interesting in the lot are the mischievous ones with double meanings. And my favorite is “Be gentle on my curves”. There are many more like I am curvaceous, Be slow, Darling I like you but not so fast.

Must I say anything*

:) Double meaning again :p *
My favorite - High 5 to BRO for this one*

The beauty of all this is that sometimes we ride on those roads looking forward to seeing what does next BRO board has to say. So they say it right, it’s not only the destination that matters but also the journey. These catchy, smooth and at the same time motivating boards make the journey worthwhile.
